December 12 was a tragedy for the Azerbaijani people and for all who knew Heydar Aliyev. Heydar Aliyev was a great statesman and a wonderful person. He lived his life along with the Azerbaijani nation, he was always worried about what was happening in the country. He dedicated his life to making people happy. When Heydar Aliyev first came to Russia on a state visit and spoke to journalists, he spoke about the people, the Motherland, and I was surprised that he said practically nothing about himself. At that time, it was fashionable for many leaders to talk primarily about their own experiences, and not about the people. Aliyev has done a lot. He gave hope to people and fulfilled it.

Heydar Aliyev was a supporter of precise planning and a clear strategy for economic reforms and economic construction. Thanks to this, Azerbaijan has constantly moved forward: today we see the results of the signing of the  “Contract of the Century”. Immediately after the conclusion of this agreement, the number of economic partners of Azerbaijan increased and the energy industry began to grow. In general, this gave a serious impetus to the Azerbaijani economy.

Heydar Aliyev’s political achievements include the fight for a democratic constitution and the democratization of the Azerbaijani people’s rights. Heydar Aliyev succeeded not only in the adoption of a constitution but also in implementing its practical provisions. Thanks to Heydar Aliyev, a fair, modern electoral system and democratic legislation meeting all the norms of electoral regulations have been established in Azerbaijan. He did a lot to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He boldly went to meetings with the leaders of Armenia, offering them concrete developments in resolving the issue. Of course, Heydar Aliyev is a legendary person.
