I was personally acquainted with this great and unique person. I could not help but come to honor the memory of Heydar Aliyev and express my condolences to the entire Azerbaijani people, his family and relatives in regard to this bitter and heavy loss. I really knew Heydar Aliyev very well, and his death for me is the loss of a close and dear person. He was a great statesman and glorious son of his people, in the truest sense of the word, so we grieve together with the people of Azerbaijan.

The bright memory of Heydar Aliyev, a talented political figure, a great statesman and a wonderful person who made a great contribution to the development of our country and the strengthening of friendship between the peoples of Russia and Azerbaijan, will live in the hearts of the Russian people.
