We all know very well that the services of Heydar Aliyev, who was elected President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1993 and re-elected to this post last year, are invaluable in establishing peace and stability in the Central Asian region, which is a very tense region. During President Aliyev’s current visit to the United States, three new contracts are expected to be signed with American companies. Agreements have been signed to invest more than $40 billion to extract the rich energy resources of the Caspian Sea. President Heydar Aliyev, well aware of certain negative consequences of natural resources, is busy taking additional measures to develop other sectors of the economy and infrastructure in Azerbaijan and attract investment to those fields.
