I appreciate the role of President Heydar Aliyev in strengthening Azerbaijan over the last years as an independent state marching along the path of democracy and market economy, in conducting economic reforms and achieving great accomplishments.

Under the leadership of President Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan has achieved great accomplishments in overcoming the difficulties it faced on the path to independence. The United States wishes continuation of these successes.

Mr. President, I express to you my gratitude for the efforts shown in the field of development of the American – Azerbaijan relations. I think much of personal friendly relations developed between us.

Mr. President, you are very necessary to us. We highly appreciate your merits in the establishment of peace and stability in the Caucasus and in the Central Asian region. Export of rich resources of Caspian to the world markets through alternative routes, becoming possible due to your leadership and firm determination, will play a significant role in strengthening independence of the states of the region.

Your principled position has created a great sense of respect and sympathy in America, its state structures, official circles, as well as the public, and has further increased interest and attention to Azerbaijan.

America strongly supports the efforts made in direction of building a powerful independent state in Azerbaijan. Under the leadership of President Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan has made significant progress in addressing the challenges related to independence. America wants this progress to continue.

America continues to support the territorial integrity and independence of Azerbaijan. By developing a broad-based relationship, we will expand US-Azerbaijani cooperation and continue to support Heydar Aliyev’s efforts in building an eternally sovereign and prosperous state of Azerbaijan.
