When we just created the Eurasia Party and entered the State Duma of the Russian Federation as part of the Unity Bloc as representatives of the Prosperity movement, we, together with the leaders of our party, came to Baku to meet with the patriarch of world politics, President Heydar Aliyev. Because we needed his advice and recommendations.

 Heydar Aliyev is undoubtedly a world-class figure. He has been at the helm of power for several years, since the days of the Soviet Union. Imagine how he, as a representative of a non-Russian nation, besides being a muslim, was able to rise to the highest level of power and how he managed to take a decisive part in the decision-making at the Union level. This alone speaks volumes.

We also recalled the conditions under which Heydar Aliyev returned to leadership in Baku. It was a period when the issue of the integrity and future of Azerbaijan itself as a state was being decided. A part of the country was occupied, the danger of civil war and the disintegration of the republic was obvious. Heydar Aliyev, who came to power in such a difficult and turbulent period, amazed the world with his political will and inexhaustible energy. Now we see that, despite the problems that existed and partially remain today (first of all, the Karabakh conflict), Azerbaijan has now become a leader in the South Caucasus in all fields – politics, economy, culture. During our meeting with Heydar Aliyev in Baku within the program of our visit to Azerbaijan, we were convinced that he is a person worthy of a completely different historical value. Heydar Aliyev is a living history. Such politicians are always rare. They determine the history not only of their country, but of the whole era.

 Personal communication with this person produces a very pleasant effect. He is a rare person. I return to the memories of the meeting with him regarding the creation of our party. As young deputies, for advice we came to him as an elder. Yes, he was the elder in the entire post-soviet space.

I remember how we were very pleased of the meeting with him. It was a frank and unrestrained conversation. Although we are ordinary deputies, he did not agitate us with his authority. This, of course, only pleases. I remember that Mr. Heydar Aliyev told us about the most important problems and gave us very valuable recommendations and advice.

President Heydar Aliyev is truly the patriarch of world politics, his personality can be a vivid example for any statesman. I believe that the life of Heydar Aliyev is a bright example of selfless service to his people and Motherland. It goes without saying that throughout his multifaceted activity, legends circulate about Heydar Aliyev – about his foresight, ability to pursue his own policy, inexhaustible efficiency, and finally, rare memory. Undoubtedly, Azerbaijan is lucky that God gave such a leader and president as Heydar Aliyev, at a time when the fate, sovereignty and integrity of Azerbaijan were in danger! We all know that Heydar Aliyev not only brought the country out of crisis and turmoil, but also turned it into one of the leading states in the entire post-Soviet space.
